Hey SG, Savannah here. I'm the one who writes most of our editorial, asks you guys the tough questions in our Community Topics, interviews the founders of some of our favorite brands, and most importantly, gets to spend the day watching you guys make dope reviews. So dope, that I often find myself buying the products you recommend. My skin thanks you, but my bank account curses you all—and I can only imagine that my roommates do as well, because they have less and less shelf space in the bathroom every day.

I'm from Montreal, Canada, a dry and cold climate, so my skin has calmed down a lot since I moved to New York a few years ago. It's dirtier here, but more humid, so my hair and skin are less dry, but they require more washing. You win some, you lose some.

One of the many perks of my job is that I get to test some of our rewards, but as we all know, there is such a thing as too much testing. When I first started trying all the products we have laying around the office, my skin wanted revenge and did so by breaking out. All the days of painting my face blue, yellow, or silver, all in the name of entertaining you guys by turning myself into a corpse bride or an alien did not help. (But it was worth it!)

Today I keep testing to a minimum, and I've paired down my skincare and makeup routine so that my skin can now take the odd full face of clown makeup. Here's my routine—and a few gratuitous close ups of my face.

Skincare:

My skin is sensitive, dry, and eczemaic. The wrong liquid eyeshadow can seal my eyes shut, I'm never without a tube of Aquaphor, and I own several kinds of prescribed cortisone creams for various parts of my body. I recently starting having the occasional dermatitis flare up underneath my mouth, so spicy food has been a challenge, mainly because I refuse to stop eating it. Szechuan 1, Savannah 0.

For my bad eczema flare ups (conveniently located on my inner elbows and arms, butt cheeks, neck, and hands) I use Hydroval, a corticosteroid prescribed by a dermatologist. Skinfix makes a face balm that works to temporarily soothe my facial dermatitis, but I was recently prescribed another corticosteroid for my face that wiped out the red flaky patch and it hasn't returned since. Keep me in your prayers.

Morning routine:

When I wake up in the morning I look like SpongeBob when he’s dry and crusty. The first thing I do is wash my face with water and pat it dry with a clean towel that I rotate out every few days. I then apply my holy grail product, Peach & Lily Glass Skin Refining Serum. I'm obsessed with Peach & Lily's founder Alicia Yoon and I watched her demo the product and she gently presses it into her skin, so I do the same. I wait for the silicone feeling of the product to evaporate and I apply two pumps of my other holy grail, Stratia Liquid Gold. I have said this to everyone who asks (and to everyone who doesn't ask) that Liquid Gold is the product that has improved my skin the most. Alli Reed, the brand founder, was one of the most interesting people I've interviewed on the app to date. Once I've applied my moisturizer I let it absorb into my skin while I get dressed, I then apply sunscreen. I have a few that I like; A'Pieu Pure Block Natural Sun Cream, Nivea Sun Protect Super Water Gel, Innisfree Intense UV Protection Cream and Frezyderm Anti-seb Spray are all great. For all these products, I also apply on my neck and even my ears.

I put Aquafor on my face about 50 times a day. Nobody at work comments on how frequently I’m rubbing it on my face because they’re being polite and I appreciate that. I mist my face constantly, and I like to try different mists. I'm looking around my desk right now and there's Lumion Oxygen Mist and Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Ultra-Fine Mist. In my fridge at home I have Korres H2Rose Hydrating Face Mist, and every single night before bed I spray my face like 20 times with Caudalie Beauty Elixir. Every time I mist myself with Caudalie I feel like I'm Jackie Aina misting her face in slow motion in her YouTube videos. Caudalie is the shit, the beauty elixir is expensive but I don't care.

In the shower (which I prefer doing at night because I wake up with more volume and waves in my hair) I wash my body with Dr. Bronner’s peppermint soap and I like the Tea Tree shampoo and conditioner from Trader Joe's. Amika makes a really awesome hair mask that I do about twice a week. I have wavy, messy long hair and Tavi Mineral Sea Spray makes it even messier and I like that. I recently tried dry brushing my skin before a shower and it was the most painful experience of my life—brazilian waxes are less painful.

Makeup:

I wasn't a big makeup person before Supergreat, now I love it so much. On a regular day I just do spot correction with Glossier Stretch Concealer and top it off with a little bit of Zuzu Lux Mineral Bronzer. If I use foundation it's IT Cosmetics foundation with SPF 30.

I dab my cheeks with Milk Lip + Cheek tint and use Soap Brows on my eyebrows. I've tried everything for my brows and this is the only thing that keeps them in place, it's amazing. My favorite mascaras are Wander Beauty Mile High Club and Too Faced Better than Sex. The first is for everyday, and the second is for a more glam look.

I don't wear eyeshadow too often but I really love Colourpop's Jelly Much eyeshadows, Korres' Eyeshadow Stick, NYX Vivid Brights Creme and I have a bunch of solo MAC eye shadows that are tried and true. Anastasia Beverly Hills eyeshadows are great and so are Kosas' 10-second eyeshadows. I also love the NYX Vivid Brights eyeliners, they are so pigmented and they stay on all day long.

I hate lipstick, it dries my lips immediately and I just hate the feeling of it. So I prefer to use tinted balms, like Clinique Chubby Sticks and Burt's Bees. For glosses, I'm obsessed with INNBeauty Project Glaze #1 and Kosas' Wet Lip Oil is really nice too.

Fragrance:

When I find a scent I like I stay loyal for years and I never leave the house without putting some on. I wore Miss Dior Cherie for the entirety of high school and every time I smell someone wearing it I get this intense nostalgic feeling. When Glossier You came out I was freaking out, I remember walking around the pop up smelling it on everyone and really noticing that it smells completely different on whoever wears it. I love how it smells on me, so when I want to just smell clean I spray myself with a couple spritzes of that. Even though everyone in New York City has it, I still regularly get asked what I'm wearing. I also love Margiela's Replica perfumes, I have Beach Walk and it smells like sunscreen and the beach (Kramer thought of it first). A few months ago I caved and bought Le Labo Thé Noir, it smells so good and I wear it pretty much every day now.

Nighttime Skincare:

When I get home I wash my face right away. I like to use Farmacy Green Clean Cleasing Balm to break up my makeup, and then I follow up with Kiehl’s Blue Herbal Acne Cleanser. I wash my face for a full 60 seconds since Sable Yong told me she does. I don't use toner anymore because I don't think it does anything for me and I want my money back.

Once or twice a week I like to do a charcoal mask, the Innisfree Super Volcanic Clay Mousse Mask is really fun and affordable. When I feel grimy I like the Origins Rose Clay Mask, it’s a little tougher and exfoliates your skin. I got really freaked out by the whole walnut face scrub scare so I exfoliate way less now, and turns out I break out much less.

Before bed I like to be coated, glazed, covered in moisture. Dirtyboysgetclean is an awesome skincare Instagram account and the person behind it, Matt, calls it “Glazed Donut Realness.” That’s what I aim for when I get home. When my mom was born, my grandparents brought her home from the hospital and put her in her crib to sleep. Apparently my uncle, who was a few years older, snuck into her room with a stick of butter and covered her face in it because he was jealous of the new baby. I always think of that story because THAT’S what I want to look like before bed. I put on more Peach & Lily Glass Skin Serum and seal it in with two pumps of Stratia Liquid Gold and Aquaphor. It's a mixture that Alli Reed does before bed and I've noticed since I started copying her that my skin is still super hydrated in the morning when I wake up.

That's probably the best part of my job; learning what the experts do to their skin, passing the information on to you guys and trying it for myself.
